My Carryon Essentials

Hey everyone!!

I am going on a trip very soon, one with a very long flight. I will be on 3 different planes, and a long car ride, a 24 hour experience. While my mind is on packing and the trip, I figured that I should document how I prepare myself for a trip like this.

List of essentials:

For passing time on the plane:

  • Book or kindle (or iPad) - Personally, I am a huge reader and like to pass time drifting of into the magical world of Harry Potter or other books. On the plane, I prefer kindles because when the lights go off on the plane, you wont have to keep your reading light on and draw attention to your seat. Also, kindles can carry many books and don't take up much space. Books can often weigh too much.
  • iPod & headset - I enjoy listening to my music while on the plane. iPods also contain games and lets face it, games are a great way to pass time when all else bores you. Sometimes planes can be loud so I enjoy listening to a relaxation podcast to help me fall asleep. It may sound silly but it really helps. Also I use the headset to watch movies on the plane. The plane's cheep headset just doesn't fit my head comfortably.
  • Laptop - I have my laptop so I can write, take notes and if the plane has wi-fi, send emails.
Health:

  • Facial wipes and moisturizer - I use these to get dirt off my face before I fall asleep. They are also useful if you are wearing makeup, you don't want to wear makeup on a plane because it can dry out your skin. Thats where the moisturizer is useful.
  • Toothbrush - I don't always brush my teeth on a plane, but a toothbrush is something to keep with you just in case.
  • Girl stuff - If you are a girl, Is there much more I need to say?
Other random things:

  • Jacket - If you get chilly on the plane this is very useful. Also, it is good to have in case of emergency.
  • Portable phone charger - Really useful. Im not talking about one that you need to plug into an outlet, I'm talking about one that you can just stick in your phone and charge it.
  • Snack - Crackers, left over pizza, just no fruit!! The airport security dogs are trained to sniff out fruit.

And those are my carryon essentials. Ciao!!

Happy Holidays!!
